Author dedicates book to motherI embarked on this journey through my memories called “Greenwich Meridian where East meets West" on Decem after being asked by many colleagues, friends and acquaintances to write our story. I have attempted several times to pen our immigration saga now spanning three generations. I saved evidence of such attempts.   Stories told by book dedications David Barnett. Usually all too predictable, the messages introducing books can sometimes reveal a great deal about the author that is, if the dedications at.

My book dedications all fall into the “predictable” category. My 6 Alaska books are dedicated to my husband and one also to the Aleut People. The dedication of my first novel, MOTHER EARTH FATHER SKY, reads “To Neil who has taught me so much about joy and living and our children Neil and Krystal who have taught us both about love. This book does not include some liturgical resources that ordinarily are included in the previous service books, namely, ordinations, installations, and occasional services such as dedications. At the time of its publication, a major study on ordination is before the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Just my opinion: use “to” if you want to write your dedication to the person, as if you were speaking to them personally. Use “for” if you are writing about them, telling your readers to whom you are dedicating the book. But in the end, it is what.   I love reading book dedications! Often, it is our first touch with an author. it is intimate to read those words that often show what they truly cherish in life, what they hope for the book.

A book dedication is simply a device that some authors use to bestow a very high honor on a person (or small group of people) they want to praise or otherwise spotlight.
